As a result of the increase in cargo, both import and export, and providing the saturation of the platforms of Customs and the vehicular congestion inside the port, the preliminary project for relocation of Customs was recently presented which aims to expand areas of operations for Customs and Second Recognition as well as the lanes and length of the fiscal route; this will be public investment and will be conducted by API Ensenada with an initial estimate of $35 million pesos for the years 2007 and 2008.

Together with the readjustment of customs office, it is expected to equip the fiscal area authorized last November to be operated by API Ensenada, with an area of 35,000 sq meters, which it is intended for 5000 m² enabling platform Transfer (Cross Dock) and a phytosanitary inspection point, a project that aims to increase value-added operations to cargo, such as packaging, labeling, previous checking of goods, among others, the project will be convened for bids in July, so as to involve private enterprise in developing the port.
